VEEEEEEEEGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAN

Davey Havok, founder of Zu Boutique and front man for Blaqkaudio and East Bay rock band AFI, is a name well recognized in the rock community for his solid stage presence and persona. As with his music, Havok is constantly trying to progress and shatter the mold, which makes him a perfect fit for our newest Studio Project collaboration shoe.

The release will encompass all the zest and glamour of Havok's very own Zu Boutiqe, while still holding onto the seal of Macbeth. The project is sure to redefine our classic Eliot's, but forward thinking is what Havok's always been about. Vegan has never looked so good.

If you have not picked up your Macbeth X Zu Boutique by Davey Havok Studio Project yet, might want to grab them now as they are going quick..... Head here to get your pair now [for only $59.99] !!

Me and Davey

My sister [info]beuk and Davey. I took too long to take the picture so her face froze funny.

I was going to go to a signing for AFI at a local record store, but I didn't want to buy the album lol, so I decided to go to a coffee shop instead. We saw Davey and some guy (I hope he wasn't a band member because I totally didn't pay attention to him lol) at the front of the line at the coffee shop. I kinda sidled up to him, said I liked the album, and got a picture. I'm from Idaho and there aren't many celeb sightings, so I didn't keep my cool at all. Also, he's really tiny in person (about 5'5" and he was wearing heeled boots).

I'm not sure if this is considered post-worthy or not, so I'll leave that up to the mods to decide. Basically I met AFI last night, but we weren't allowed to take pictures, so no ONTD sign. I was able to get a shaky video of Hunter acknowledging ONTD's exsistence. He didn't quite know what I was talking about when I said "ONTD" but he got it when I said "Oh No They Didn't".

My voice sounds weird...I'm really shy and quiet and was trying hard to not be, and ended up talking obnoxiously.

So in my earlier post I failed to mention the Tegan and Sara article in my Alternative Press. Here are some high lights with the full scan behind the cut ! :

* "Hell" is one of three songs co-written with AFI bassist Hunter Burgan. (Here's their recent performance of that song on Conan O'Brien)
* "Sainthood" draws its title from the Leonard Cohen song "Came So Far For Beauty"
* "Sainthood" was produced by Death Cab For Cutie's Chris Walla (who produced "The Con")
* AltPress gives the album 4.5 out of 5 stars
* Tegan is excited to play "Northshore" live.

Tegan and Sara : Twilight

If you do not want your heart to break, do not read on. After this, you may no longer like Tegan.

In an interview posted on MTV.com, Tegan said the duo took inspiration from "Twilight".

"I read all the 'Twilight' books while we were recording Sainthood, and [producer/ Death Cab for Cutie guitarist] Chris [Walla] and I were talking about it a lot, because after we finished our record, he was going to record with Death Cab to do their song for the 'New Moon' soundtrack," Tegan Quinn told MTV News last week. "So me and him would geek out with each other and talk about it, and he'd actually be doing a job — he'd be producing our record — and I'd be on the couch [paging through], and he'd be like, 'You're on the third book already?' We nerded out with one another."

AFI/Blaqk Audio : Yo Gabba Gabba! + Album News + The Drummer Speaks

Going through my December 2009 issue of Alternative Press, noticed a few things. (I can scan the pages if anyone is interested.) But here are the high lights ! :

* AFI is "Too Shy To Conform" (lol, article title)
* Hunter Burgan is described as "tranquil and contemplative...similar to the dry wit and clever humor on his Twitter account" (@TranquilMammoth).
* Blaqk Audio......Jade and Davey have a title and artwork picked out but they decided to hold off on releasing it until AFI are done touring with "Crash Love".
* Bassist Hunter Burgan recently recorded a tune "about babies" for the Nickelodeon kid's show Yo Gabba Gabba! Hunter describes "out of context of being a father--which I'm not--the lyrics are just so creepy. It's about watching your baby grow. I don't know, that show, as a whole, has a weird, surreal vibe to it." Aside from Yo Gabba Gabba!, he's also busy writing a book.
* Drummer Adam Carson quote: "I'm the drummer. I'm the least recogizable in the band.....I'm not concerned about being recognized when I'm walking down the street. It's not important to me. But I really like it when people like my band."

Welcome to the Tegan and Sara portion of this post. First, an interview with AFI's wonderful bassist, Hunter Burgan ! In a recent interview, he talked about working with Tegan.

Switching gears a little but did you help play bass again on the new Tegan & Sara record?

Hunter : Not the one that comes out in October. I co-wrote some of the songs with Tegan, but I wasn’t able to go into the studio with them.

How did the co-writing thing go?

Hunter : It was great. Tegan and I have been writing songs for years together. They’ve just been piling up. When they went to sort out the songs they were going to record for their album, Tegan brought up some of the ones that we did and I guess everybody else really liked them.

Secondly, Tegan and Sara announced Canadian dates (here if you missed it). Guess who is performing with them on December 21st !? You guessed it.....AFI.

Hello Canadian Friends! Today we are excited to announce our first tour dates of 2010! Canada you are up first! ...... MON 21-Dec Victoria BC - Save-On Foods Memorial Centre (w/AFI and Jets Overhead)

Details on how to purchase tickets for this show and others can be found at TeganAndSara.com.
