Nintendo has signed a £10 million contract to bring Doctor Who to Wii and DS consoles, according to tabloid reports.

The Sun says that the company plans to have the game, which will be based around Matt Smith's Doctor, in shops in time for Christmas 2010.

"This has been in the pipeline for years," an insider is quoted as saying. "We're delighted to have finally nailed down a deal.

"We went with Nintendo as they have huge appeal for families and Doctor Who is very much a family brand. The Wii console is key for us as it's something families play together."

The BBC is apparently keen to monitor the game closely and has rejected anything too violent.

The insider continued: "BBC Worldwide, which licenses BBC shows, has been trying to find some way of doing it. But you can't have Doctor Who blowing things to bits with a laser gun. That would massively change the nature of the show."

Meet Dr Who's new sidekick: Karen Gillan

'It's a pretty terrifying role, but a huge privilege to be part of an iconic show. I'm following a long line of great actresses who have played the companion, so it's quite daunting. I'd love to sit down with them and have a good chat about it.'

She also revealed that her mother didn't even know she'd got the part: 'My boyfriend knew, but I didn't tell anyone else, including my mum - she's a huge Doctor Who fan and I didn't want to lumber her with the secret. I only told her an hour before the public found out.'

BAMF

This post will KILL your dialup and contains spoilers for Episode 11, written by Gareth Roberts, which has been filming this past week.

For those who don't know already: this ep is apparently called "The Lodger" and is based on a DW comic strip where the TARDIS materializes on Earth, kicks out the Doctor and dematerializes with the companion still inside. The TARDIS is somehow shunted forward about a week, leaving the Doctor to stay with someone on Earth while he waits for it to catch up. During this time, he hangs out with James Corden and plays a game of football, among other things!

Looks like Eleven inherited some of Five's love of sport

big shock, lol

Time Lord hair defies gravity

Goal!

taking a peek, and getting kicked out

clips of footballer!Doctor

Billie Piper and David Tennant are being reunited on the big screen.
The Doctor Who stars are in discussions to appear in a big-screen thriller that will be directed by Piper's husband, the actor Laurence Fox.
The movie, Love On The Murder Mile, will also star Mackenzie Crook and Matthew Rhys, the Welsh-born, LA-based actor.

Rhys, who portrayed Dylan Thomas in Edge Of Love opposite Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller, is one of the main cast members on U.S. television drama Brothers & Sisters.
The plan is for him to shoot his scenes in Love On The Murder Mile during the summer break from his TV show.
Piper and Tennant were a mammoth success as the good doctor and his assistant Rose.
The script, by Johnny Glynn, is set in London and the story is described as an urban thriller.

Robin Fox, the film's producer (and brother of Laurence), said negotiations were still ongoing and that not all the cast were officially contracted.
He said his brother had 'always had this ambition to direct'. Meanwhile, Laurence has withdrawn from the play Eigengrau, which opens at the Bush Theatre in West London next Wednesday.
He did ten days of rehearsals but withdrew 'gracefully', after deciding that his part had changed. He has been replaced by Geoffrey Streatfield.

These two are my OTP on Doctor Who and in real life, so this news makes me very happy indeed, I don't even care that the film sounds rubbish.

Zource

and selling his album on QVC-UK

If you're an easily persuaded housewife/husband with an expendable income and a working telephone line, you may have just had the greatest afternoon of your entire life. Earlier today, John Barrowman – star of Torchwood, Desperate Housewives and that weird one-off special where he sang a bunch of showtunes in a field – was a guest on QVC. And he was magnificent.

Without exaggeration, hosting QVC was the job John Barrowman was born to do. He has his own QVC membership card. He owns everything that QVC sells. He even turned up at the studio dressed in QVC clothes. It was a monumental hour – whether he was demonstrating the best way to use the Glass Master cleaning accessories, or raving about the high threadcount in the Northern Lights duvet sets, or sealing his CDs in a Lock & Lock tub and then submerging them in water like some kind of Tupperware-based David Blaine, John Barrowman was on fire.

Former Doctor Who star David Tennant is taking another step into the unknown: playing the lead role in new BBC1 drama Single Father.

The poignant but amusing four-part series tells the story of Dave, a photographer struggling to bring up his four children alone following the death of wife Rita. As if that wasn't challenging enough, he must also deal with a growing romantic attachment to Rita's best friend, Sarah.

The Glasgow-set drama represents a return to home territory for Tennant, who was tempted to the States by NBC comedy drama Rex Is Not Your Lawyer. Single Father is the work of Mick Ford, the man behind romantic comedy drama William and Mary, and who has also written scripts for Ashes to Ashes and George Gently.

Executive producer Nicola Shindler said of star Tennant: "He brings the emotional connection, warmth and humour that Single Father needs."

For his part, Tennant feels "very lucky to have been sent this script. When I read what Mick Ford had written I was desperate to be part of this project."

Filming commences on Single Father next month.

In case of any haters
