Everyone’s jumping on the Betty White bandwagon! Hot on the heels of her confirmed Saturday Night Live hosting stint, the TV legend has signed on to guest star in the season finale of ABC’s The Middle. White will play a school librarian who confronts Brick (Atticus Shaffer) about his failure to return numerous overdue books. There’s no such thing as too much Betty White! SourceI'm surprised by how much I love The Middle.

Clive Owen Joins Jason Statham in The Killer Elite It would seem the action movie gods have shined upon me today, providing some potentially awesome material for my first post here at Screen Rant. We’ve known for a while that British action star Jason Statham is set to star in an upcoming thriller called The Killer Elite. The film is based on Ranulph Fiennes’ novel “The Feathermen,” and follows “a group of former British special forces members who are being hunted by assassins. Statham will play a former Navy Seal who is forced out of retirement to save his closest friend.” Now The Daily Mail is reporting fellow Englishman Clive Owen has joined the cast, presumably as the friend to Statham’s character. The last few years of Owen’s career have been interesting; he starred in the critically acclaimed Children of Men, Inside Man, and Sin City, but has also shown up in some questionable films like Derailed and The International. There have also been some strange projects along the way – Shoot ‘Em Up, anyone? – and recently it seems as if Owen has lost a bit of the edginess so wonderfully displayed in films like BMW’s The Hire series. Perhaps joining forces with the reigning bad-ass of Great Britain will rejuvenate him a bit. Statham has carved out a niche for himself as a genuine action star, ushering in a new breed of post-John McClane era heroes with a mixture of martial arts and tough guy machismo. It only helps his case that he does most of his own stunts (including driving) in the Transporter series and films like The Bank Job and Crank, and I would be hard pressed to find someone with an equal command over the genre as he has now. His upcoming role in Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables, perhaps the most insane collaboration of action stars past and present, is proof positive of Statham’s position in the hallowed halls of action stars. This new collaboration of the two actors will see a return to characters similar to those they’ve both played before. Statham, an ex-Navy Seal in The Killing Elite, played ex-special forces soldier Frank Martin in The Transporter and its two sequels. Owen has also tread this familiar ground, himself playing an assassin in The Bourne Identity. The Killing Elite was previously scheduled to begin production last fall, but supposedly the filmmakers have chosen to shoot the film in Australia sometime this year. No word yet on the official start date for the project. Here’s the part where I toss the conversation to you. Are you excited for The Killing Elite? Does the prospect of Statham and Owen side by gun-toting side have your action glands salivating? Let us know in the comments section.
sourceThe only way this could get better is if Gerard Butler joined the cast and Guy Ritchie was going to direct it.

File under “two great tastes that taste great together”: Jason Segel and Ed Helms are set to co-star in an upcoming stoner comedy. Adding to my joy, Jeff Who Lives At Home is from writing/directing brothers Mark and Jay Duplass of The Puffy Chair and Baghead. (Mark also stars in the The League and was half the bromantic duo in Humpday.) My cup runneth over. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “the pic chronicles a day in the life of two brothers, one a loser (Segel) who lives at home and the other (Helms) more together but overbearing.” So… no one’s playing against type. Judy Greer, who should totally be a bigger star, is “in talks” to play Helms’ wife. The Duplass’s films are very talky and low-key, and Helms and Segel, while fantastic, tend to play big, shouty, and ostentatiously goofy (Segel) or dorky (Helms) characters. I’m curious to see them scale back their broad styles for more of a lived-in, realistic vibe. And please oh please let there be some kind of musical number. Are you excited for this comedy powerhouse, PopWatchers? SourceThis sounds amazing! Now if Paul Rudd could somehow join them, I'd be even happier.

Liv Tyler will appear in suspense thriller The Ledge alongside Charlie Hunnam and Terrence Howard.
The Lord of the Rings actress will star alongside Children of Men star Charlie Hunnam, who plays the role of a young man threatening to jump off a high-rise building. Principal photography began yesterday (08.03.10) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Director Matthew Chapman is pleased with the cast and can't wait to get started on working with them. He said: "The Ledge examines the different and sometimes dangerous beliefs people adopt as a means of surviving emotional trauma". "I am thrilled with our perfect cast and look forward to shooting the film in Baton Rouge over the coming weeks." The film's producer Michael Mailer added: "As more and more films succumb to the visual wizardry of 3-D, 'The Ledge' explores the fourth dimension: the interior life of tortured souls hovering over the precipice of emotional nullity. "This film is the reason why I became an independent filmmaker and why I continue to suffer in the trenches of independent filmmaking." Also starring in the film is Iron Man actor Terrence Howard, who plays the role of a policeman attempting to stop Hunnam from jumping off the building. A release date has yet to be confirmed for the suspense thriller. Sorry, mods. I forgot the sourcecontactmusic.com

Further proof that this Friday’s episode of Numb3rs will be a series finale: Rob Morrow has joined the cast of ABC’s Jerry Bruckheimer-produced legal drama The Whole Truth. The project, which also stars Nip/Tuck’s Joely Richardson, chronicles the building of a case from the perspective of both the defense and prosecution. For Morrow, Truth is technically in second position to Numb3rs, although there’s little chance the CBS procedural will return next fall. Not to be outdone, Morrow’s Numb3rs bro, David Krumholtz, was recently tapped to headline Fox’s Untitled Ron Howard IRS pilot. SourceWith both boys getting cast in pilots, Numb3rs has to be ending this week. This makes me sad. I'll probably watch both shows for Rob and David, though.

As a straight-A student at Harvard, Natalie Portman obviously didn’t smoke weed every day, but her newest film will show audiences that she isn’t biased against women having a little fun with their friends and a plant named cannabis. Portman recently teamed up with screenwriter Jamie Denbo on Best Buds, a film which Portman will star in and produce under her production company Handsomecharlie Films. The movie follows a group of female friends as they try to prevent Portman’s character from suffering a nervous breakdown the night before her wedding. Instead of focusing on the irrational emotions that have constituted female identities in comedies such as Knocked Up, the girls chill out on a road trip to San Diego by smoking copious amounts of weed.
“I just wished there was a movie where women got to be funny. Not just a group of ragtag funny guys and the hot girl,” Denbo told Jezebel.com in February. “Everyone has a cause. Some people have cancer, some have literacy. Mine is proving that women smoke weed, too.” Denbo said she wrote the screenplay after seeing a dominating theory of how women interact with weed in Knocked Up, where Katherine Heigl makes Seth Rogen get rid of his bong while she is pregnant. “It just seemed like a metaphor of, ‘Put down the bong, and we can get married.’ That’s not how it goes in my house. It’s more like, ‘Hey, you’re pregnant, maybe stop smoking weed for five minutes,” said Denbo, a mother of two. Despite focusing on female smoking habits, Denbo said she also wanted to prove that women could provide humor in movies such as The Hangover. “I love crazy guy comedy stuff,” Denbo said. “But it would be nice to see some of the other characters that are funny be women. People forget that the biggest scene stealer in Knocked Up was Kristen Wiig.”Denbo said she knows that the film might alienate regular comedic audiences since it focuses on women, and generally men are funnier than females. Also, female audience-goers might be offended by the idea that all women are smoking weed. But she says the movie offers more insight into female friendships than is commonly seen in theaters. “It’s essentially about best friends and girlfriends,” Denbo said. “It’s more about real girl friendship, and not one girl is the ingénue and one girl is her whippersnapper best friend. It’s more equal.”Saucy

Latino Review has confirmed an IMDb posting that said Rachel Nichols (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Star Trek, "Alias") will play Tamara in director Marcus Nispel's Conan at Lionsgate. The film will be based on Robert E. Howard's mythical conqueror Conan the Barbarian.
Nichols is joining a cast that includes Jason Momoa, Mickey Rourke, Bob Sapp and Leo Howard, who co-starred in "G.I. Joe" with Nichols.
The following is how the casting breakdown described character:
Tamara is 18 to 24 years old, Caucasian or Middle Eastern, open to all ethnicities; beautiful, studious, correct, a novitiate of a Greek influenced monastery. A master of martial arts, she has been trained to be the Queen’s servant, bodyguard and best friend. She and many other female bodyguards to the queen have been in hiding most of their lives because of the curse of Acheron, which would take the queen’s life to bring almost immortal power to its king. When Khalar Singh, a powerful warlord with ambitions to become the king of Acheron, storms the monastery and captures all of the novitiates, she is separated from Ilira, the one she must protect. With all of her strength and will, Tamara is determined to find and rescue her. She finds herself in league with Conan because of a mutual need to find Khalar Singh. She is not in the least intimidated by Conan’s size or grim demeanor and their alliance eventually blossoms into something that surprises them both…

"Earlier, it was reported by reputable entertainment websites and news sources and Amanda herself, that she'd been cast in the comedy Hall Pass. Now, Amanda's tweets are telling a different story." From today: Before those two tweets, Amanda said: " Everything happens for a reason! =) " "It seems that Amanda was either replaced, her character was written out of the script, or she backed out herself. This is NOT confirmed, but something fishy is defintely going down! Maybe Amanda is too cool for school!" SOURCE Earlier: Google's cache of tweets she's now deleted

G.T.L., baby. If this is your life motto, you could be a star. Or at least an earnest, marginally attractive C-lister! O'Connor Casting Co., a Chicago-based casting agency, is looking for South Siders whose lives are centered on Gym, Tanning and Laundry, for a reality show similar to the controversial Jersey Shore, but Chicago-style, reports the Southtown Star. "We're looking for people who represent what a South Sider is," casting producer Joan O'Connor told the Southtown Star. But just what is a South Sider? Well, the casting company doesn't exactly know just yet. But Chicagoans interested in becoming reality-TV stars should be "buff, hot, sexy, crazy, fun, outgoing," and "love to make things exciting," according to the firm's online ad. Applicants can be of any race or nationality, but should be between the ages of 19 and 27 years old. If you're a South Sider who fits this description and can give "The Situation" a run for his money, send an e-mail to Chicago@oconnorcasting.tv with your full name, address, phone number, three recent pictures of yourself, and "a brief description of your awesomeness." Applications will be accepted through the end of March, but the casting company says the sooner you respond, the better. So bust out your fist pump, and get ready to party, get out there, get filthy, creepy and weird. Source Ok, first of all, a straight out lol at the complete Snooki wannabe in the beginning of that video. Now, speaking as someone who grew up on the South Side, only to move to the North Side post-high school I have to say a big hell to the naw. I really hope that nothing comes out of this and that even though they're definitely set on filming no one picks this up. People already look down enough on the South Side without having to add this to the mix. I can't say I know too many South Siders whose lives revolve around "gym, tanning and laundry" either but to each their own.
Do not want.
