Sorry, Dane Cook: John Krasinski, best known as straightlaced Jim on NBC’s The Office, is thisclose to nabbing the biggest role of his young career: Captain America.

Insiders at Marvel Entertainment tell FOX News’ 411 Column that Krasinski is on the verge of nabbing a role in The First Avenger: Captain America, scheduled to be released by Paramount on July 22, 2011.

“John has read 4 times and is doing screen tests,” says the Marvel spy. “He has screen tested 2 times so far. It’s very likely that he will be the new Captain America. He is a favorite among the key decision makers and has been asked to come back for more this week.”

At this point, Krasinski is the main focus at Marvel. The insider said the pay would “not be outrageous” for the original story film, but note that a box office blockbuster could result in multiple sequels.

“The big bosses are having him read with multiple actresses up for the female leads. They want to lock down the role and then they will narrow down everyone else….”

Good news, America. Our awesome Thursday-night comedy block on NBC is safe for another season! NBC just announced that it's giving out early pickups to Community, The Office and 30 Rock. The network had already announced that Parks & Recreation was coming back for another year, so yay for keeping two straight hours of excellent comedy programming on our calendars for the time being.

Community will be returning for season two, P-Rex will be back for season three, 30 Rock will be back for season five and The Office will be back for season seven.

Emily Blunt refuses to reveal the intimacies of her relationship with actor fiance John Krasinski - because she has learned her lesson after opening up about her romance with ex-boyfriend Michael Buble.

The Devil Wears Prada actress dated the Canadian singer for three years, and openly talked about their relationship while they were together.

But after they split in 2008, the actress admitted she regretted revealing the intimate details of their romance to the press.

She is now engaged to The Office star Krasinski, who proposed last August.

But Blunt remains silent about her man in interviews - insisting celebrities must maintain a "dual existence" in a bid to keep their love lives out of the tabloids.

She tells Popeater.com, "Don't be a Chatty Cathy about (the relationship) - I think that's the secret".


"You have to have a dual existence... You have the acting side of it and the business life... and then you have your private life and your downtime. You have to make that divide, and make it clear to you."

NBC will broadcast the highly anticipated baby episode of “The Office” as a special one-hour show on Thursday, March 4 (9-10 p.m. ET) rather than as two separate half-hour episodes over two weeks as previously announced. 

In the special hour-long episode of “The Office” titled “The Delivery Part 1 and 2,” Pam’s (Jenna Fischer) contractions begin but she and Jim (John Krasinski) are determined to wait it out as long as possible so they can have more time at the hospital. Meanwhile the rest of the office tries to distract Pam from the pain with food and entertainment.

In the second half hour, Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell) anxiously waits for Pam and Jim’s baby to be born. Back at the office, Erin (Ellie Kemper) makes Andy (Ed Helms) jealous when she has lunch with Kevin (Brian Baumgartner)
