Hot on the heels (or, more appropriately, the boot jets) of the debut of the second trailer for director Jon Favreau's sequel to Iron Man, Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios have released several new pieces of artwork for Iron Man 2. The new artwork includes three new standees that should be making their way into theaters soon, if they haven't already. The standees include solo images of both Iron Man (played by Robert Downey Jr.) and his partner-in-heroics, War Machine (Don Cheadle), as well as a "jam piece" showcasing both characters. Also, a new, high-quality still image has been released and it's becoming something of a controversy in internet fan forums and chat groups. The image shows Tony Stark in his Mark III Iron Man armor in conversation with another armored person. Many entertainment sites have labeled the character Stark is talking to as War Machine, but the shiny metal, riveted chest plate and blue eye-socket glow clearly indicates that it is the Mark II iron man armor, the first suit of armor that Stark made after gaining his freedom in the first movie. Iron Man 2Some have suggested that it is an early version of the War Machine armor, while others have suggested that it is actually Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) or even Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) wearing the Mark II armor. Another theory has it that it is actress Olivia Munn portraying the Iron Maiden character she is rumored to be playing. Of course, it could just be an empty suit of armor, but all of the speculation and debate is a clear sign that fans are eager for the release of the movie. Iron Man 2 also stars Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow, Mickey Rourke as Whiplash and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. CLICK IMAGE FOR MAXIMUM SIZE
OP: Blegh, I really can't stand Olivia Mann-face. She annoys me.SOURCE

From Deadline Hollywood: Warner Bros has been as stingy as any major on handing out overall production deals to actors in recent years. But I've learned the studio has just given a first look 2-year deal to Zac Efron. And Warner Bros plans to buy pitches, spec scripts, and books for Efron and his still unformed company to develop as star vehicles. His manager, Alchemy Entertainment’s Jason Barrett, will be an exec producer on the projects. But that's not all at Warner Bros: I'm told the studio also is in the process of making an overall deal with its Sherlock Holmes star Robert Downey Jr who's about to form a production company with his wife, seasoned development exec and now producer Susan Downey. And Warner Bros also will make an overall deal with duo Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, who are moving over the first-look pact they had together at Media Rights Capital (MRC)... At 22, Efron is by far the youngest actor with an overall Warner Bros film deal. I'm told he hasn’t named his company and is still working out details like whether he’ll take office space on the lot. My insiders said the studio has been high on him for several years, especially his hustle on the New Line film 17 Again which he promoted heavily in six overseas territories. (That pic grossed $136 million worldwide). Warner Bros is determined to find him a franchise. Which begs the question whther he'll be the next DC Entertainment superhero, or Bourne-like action thriller leading man, or buddy comedy co-star, or all, or none. True, Efron has made a determined effort to steer away from his High School Musical teen heartthrob image, dropping out of a Footloose remake to attach to Universal's serious dramatic vehicle The Death And Life of Charlie St. Cloud releasing this fall. But one of Zac's upcoming projects I've already announced will be the first developed under his new Warner Bros -- the Back To The Future-like film, as yet untitled, that melds two projects: a pitch from writers Tim Calpin and Kevin Jakubowski, and the other called Algorithm that the studio was already developing. This is an amazing deal for him, so exciting! source

Robert Downey Jr. holds up the ‘Iron Man 2 Tony Stark’ action figure, designed to the actor’s likeness, as he visits Hasbro’s showroom at the International Toy Fair in New York City on Monday (February 15).
The action figure is part of the movie-based toy line for Iron Man 2 (out May 7). Another favorite: An Iron Man-ed out Mr. Potato Head called Tony Starch, aka the Iron Mash!
Hasbro is also getting major buzz over their upcoming Twister Hoopla. It’s similar to their original Twister game, but instead of using a mat to step on, you have to touch body parts through rings. Perfect for family game night!

The Sherlock Holmes star wore an interesting outfit sporting a fedora with his mismatched ensemble. In true RDJ fashion, the actor perked up and smiled for the cameras. It also looks like Iron Man was about to break out in dance. The Golden Globe winner seems to be unstoppable when it comes to performances on the big screen. From Iron Man, to Tropic Thunder to Sherlock, RDJ is a true A-lister. ~*Fashion diva*~ source| source

An unnamed Qatari film producer is in talks to finance a $150m movie trilogy based on children’s classic Treasure Island. The three film project already has a script and a director attached. Filming is scheduled to begin in November this year and casting is underway, with Robert Downey Jr – star of the blockbusters Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes - top of the filmmakers’ wish list to play villain Long John Silver.“We have somebody in Qatar at the moment who is a very experienced producer of multi-million dollar pictures and we are involved in setting up a franchise based on Treasure Island, which would be a key picture deal,” Douglas Rae, managing director and executive producer of Ecosse Films, told Arabian Business. Ecosse, a UK-based independent film producer, is searching for partner to finance the adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic tale. The company is behind a string of critical and commercial successes, including ‘Mrs Brown’, starring Judy Dench, ‘Charlotte Gray’, with Cate Blanchett, and Jane Austin biopic ‘Becoming Jane’, with Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy. In 2007, the film ‘White Horse’, a children’s adventure, took over $100m at the box office. According to Rae, it is becoming more common for filmmakers to target the Middle East and the region has become the focus for some big players in the industry. “We are trying to establish a relationship with film funds which are increasingly being generated out of the Middle East,” he said. California-based William Morris Endeavor (WME), the second largest talent agency in the world, has an independent division and currently represents a number of funds from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Dubai which are interested in financing film projects. WME also represents Ecosse. In turn, many Middle Eastern funds have also begun looking to the film sector for a return on investment. In 2008, the Abu Dhabi Media Company launched Imagenation and has committed $100m to developing, producing and financing ten to fifteen films by 2013. Last year, it announced it was involved in funding a political thriller starring Sean Penn and an epic prison movie starring Colin Farrell and Ed Harris. Qatar’s Alnoor Holdings, owned by the Al-Hashemi group, has also committed to financing movies and said it is aiming to ”becoming the most dominant international media and entertainment player”. Guy Ritchie can breathe a sigh of relief.
The British director's latest film Sherlock Holmes passed the 200 million dollar mark in America this past weekend and has earned 200 million overseas as well!
That means 400 million big ones were raked in by the movie starring Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law.
Congrats to Guy — this will surely help everyone forget about the disaster that was Swept Away!
Sorry, Madge!
