Is Nas a deadbeat dad? It sure sounds like it! Kelis is asking the judge to take Nas into court and ask why he shouldn't be held in contempt of court because he is majorly behind on his child support payments! Although he requested for his child support payment to be decreased, Nas will be paying quite the hefty sum to his ex, Kelis, and their baby boy, Knight. A Los Angeles Superior Court judge ordered the rapper to increase his monthly child and spousal payments from $40,000 to $52,101, which totals to more than $600,000 a year!! Wowsa! Nas' lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, claims that his client came out ahead because although he will have to front the extra $10,000 per month, he no longer has to pay expenses on the couple's former El Lay home. Riiight. Yet, Kelis may also have some money of her own! She signed a new record deal with Interscope and is working a new album with a "futuristic disco" sound, which was inspired by her pregnancy and birth of her baby. Hold on to that money, honey! When he was busted for a DUI near home in Georgia this past September, it seems Nas (aka Nasir Jones) was under the influence of marijuana! Not that we're surprised! According to the police report, "Mr. Jones had a green tongue with raised taste buds and his pulse was raised to 116 beats per minute." Wowsa! And not only did the car smell like "raw marijuana," but police observed "eyelid tremors in both eyes and body tremors." Nas was so far gone that he failed the walking sobriety test by taking the wrong number of steps! He even admitted to smoking weed at his friend's house before he hit the road. Isn't he a daddy now?! Kelis better use her Milkshake royalties to hire herself a damn good lawyer because she is in trouble! Nas filed a bid yesterday requesting that he not have to pay spousal support to Kelis, who is also the mother of their newborn child. Back in July, a New York judge ordered Nas to pay Kelis $55,000 a month in both spousal and child support. Now, Nas wants that number decreased to only include funds for his son. That's cold! Earier this month, pictures of Nas and Kelis popped up that made many people, including us, think the couple had reconciled. The couple were able to put their money matters aside to attend a gala for Hair Rules with friend Russell Simmons in NYC last night!
