Woody Allen, shooting his next untitled film in Paris this summer, has set Marion Cotillard for a lead role. The French actress will star alongside Owen Wilson. France’s First Lady, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, has reportedly been mentioned as a possible participant, but nothing's set yet. Cotillard most recently starred in Nine, and performed the Best Original Song nominee Take It All.

Allen's untitled film is being financed under his three-picture deal with Spain’s Mediapro. For a New Yorker who watched the Gotham industry become accustomed to Allen making his annual film here, it still seems odd watching the quintessential New York director shoot in Paris, London or Barcelona, though he returned for Whatever Works. Allen long enjoyed a relationship with studios that few directors could match, where they financed his films without reading scripts. His road tripping began when he found funding overseas from financiers more amenable to such demands.

He recently wrapped You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, which shot in London and is scheduled for release in September.

The Cesars are the national film awards of France, which were first given out in 1975. The awards are named after the famous French sculptor Cesar Baldaccini. The 34-year-old Nine actress served as the event’s honorary president.

Noteworthy facts for non-French speakers: Marion likened the 2-month rehearsals for ‘Nine‘ to Star Academy and Fame, she refused to campaign for an Oscar nomination this year and is still thinking about recording an album – with songs written by herself. But she’d need the right people to help her with it.

I loooove Penelope Cruz and think she was great in Nine, but I think it's nuts she's getting all the nominations instead of Marion, because her role was much meatier and she was incredible as Luisa. It's really cute Marion wouldn't campaign for the Oscar though. However, I did find it interesting that one of the songs she performed, "Take It All" was nominated over Kate Hudson's "Cinema Italiano" which was nominated for all the other awards. Whatever, none of that matters, so to sum up: she is a goddess.

Marion Cotillard looks super-glam on the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards held at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium on Saturday (January 23).

The 34-year-old actress, who was nominated with her fellow Nine actresses for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, wore a draped one shoulder white embellished cocktail dress with floral applique detail by Elie Saab.

Obscenely jolie Parisian actress Marion Cotillard (she of the 2008 Best Actress Oscar and red-carpet mermaid-enhood) has paired up with arch Scottish post-punkers Franz Ferdinand on a new original song.

“Eyes of Mars,” created to promote a perfume for the French label Dior, can be streamed here at ladydior.com.

Cotillard, bless her coeur, is not really a chanteuse, her two numbers in the star-stuffed Nine notwithstanding; but she works out the sort of breathy, “zut alors! I am far too sexy for pitch control” coo that revered Gallic pop lizard Serge Gainsbourg coaxed from his own movie star muses in the ’60s and ’70s.
