Gabourey Sidibe, the Oscar-nominated star of Precious, has just signed on to be a reccuring guest star on a new Showtime series starring Laura Linney and Oliver Platt!!
The half hour dark comedy, called The Big C, revolves around Cathy (played by Linney) a Connecticut wife and mom who reclaims her life after she is diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Sidibe will reportedly be portraying a student in Cathy's class who has some major 'tude.
We will TOTALLY be checking this out!!
Not only are Linney and Sidibe FANTASTIC, but the show definitely sounds like a great addition to the Showtime line-up!!

The 26-year-old Academy Award nominee guest starred in the show’s pilot - The Big C stars Laura Linney as Cathy, a suburban mom and teacher who’s been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Gabby will play a quick-witted student in Cathy’s class. Oliver Platt will play Cathy’s husband, according to Access Hollywood.
Production is set to begin in May for a summer debut.

The notorious shock jock and his formerly fat sidekick Robin Quivers relentlessly lit into the Precious star, who Howard refers to as “the most enormous fat Black chick I’ve ever seen.”

Interestingly enough, Showtime disagrees with Howard and Robin’s assertion that Gabby is done in Hollywood: the star has been tapped for a recurring role in the network’s new dark comedy, The Big C.

Sidibe says:

Apparently there's no hard feelings, though, and the actress is still very taken with the Big O.
"She's the only person that I'm continually star-struck by. When I meet people I get used to them very quickly because everyone seems like a friend because I watch them on TV. But Oprah is the only one I can't get used to."
