Bristol Palin’s ready for her closeup. The eldest daughter of former Alaska Governor and ex-GOP Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin will make her acting debut by playing herself on an upcoming episode of the ABC Family teen drama The Secret Life of the American Teenager, the network announced on Tuesday.
Palin, 19, will befriend series protagonist Amy — played by Shailene Woodley — as a member of a music program for teen mothers on an episode expected to air when the series returns for its third season this summer.
“I am thrilled to be on this show and to be a part of a program that educates teens and young adults about the consequences of teen pregnancy,” says Bristol, the single mother of one-year-old son Tripp.
The show is just as excited to have Bristol on board for a guest appearance.
“Bristol Palin is the most famous teenage mother in America,” series executive producer Brenda Hampton remarked in a statement issued Tuesday. “We’re thrilled to have her join us, and I think she will bring additional attention to the issues facing teen parents that we’ve been exploring for a couple of seasons now.”
Bristol guest spot will shoot in Los Angeles later this year.
The Secret Life of the American Teenager airs Mondays at 8 PM.

Sarah Palin is sounding off on Sunday night’s episode of Family Guy, which seemed to mock the youngest of the politician’s two sons, Trig, who suffers from Down syndrome. Instead of lighting into producers of the popular animated series — similar to what she’s done after run-ins with David Letterman, Rush Limbaugh, and White House’s Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel — the former Alaska governor’s enlisted Trig’s big sister, Bristol, to speak for the family.
The show — which aired on Palin’s new employer FOX over the weekend– is accused of evoking Palin’s 22-month-old son for a storyline in which hapless character Chris Griffin asks out a rude classmate who has Down syndrome. When he asks the girl about her parents, she replies that her mother is the former governor of Alaska. Not surprising, considering Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane — an Obama supporter — regularly ridiculed then-VP-candidate Palin during the 2008 presidential race. While she’s gotten used to living under public scrutiny, Bristol believes her baby brother and his disability should be off limits.
“When you’re the son or daughter of a public figure, you have to develop thick skin. My siblings and I all have that, but insults directed at our youngest brother hurt too much for us to remain silent. People with special needs face challenges that many of us will never confront, and yet they are some of the kindest and most loving people you’ll ever meet,” the 19-year-old single mom wrote in a statement entitled “Fox Hollywood — What a Disappointment” and posted to her mother’s Facebook page on Monday.
“Their lives are difficult enough as it is, so why would anyone want to make their lives more difficult by mocking them? As a culture, shouldn’t we be more compassionate to innocent people – especially those who are less fortunate? Shouldn’t we be willing to say that some things just are not funny? Are there any limits to what some people will do or say in regards to my little brother or others in the special needs community? If the writers of a particularly pathetic cartoon show thought they were being clever in mocking my brother and my family yesterday, they failed. All they proved is that they’re heartless jerks. – Bristol Palin”

FYI: FOX News correspondent Sarah Palin and her revirginized teen daughter Bristol allegedly earned a whopping $100,000 to pimp out their infant sons in the Jan. 25 cover of In Touch Weekly.

In a revealing interview for the upcoming Jan. 25 issue of In Touch Weekly, former GOP presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her daughter Bristol open up about the experience of raising their toddler sons together.

Bristol gave birth to her son Tripp in December 2008. Since splititng from the boy’s father, Playgirl beefcake Levi Johnston, Bristol has taken up her mother’s abstinence only campaign.
“I’m not going to have sex until I’m married…I can guarantee it,” the teen mom says.
“Tripp is the love of my life — I couldn’t ask for a better baby, but the reality is I’m 19 years old and I have a 1-year-old. I wish I could be in my 30s with a baby, and not be 20. Just having him so young — I have to work, and I have to provide, because I’m a single mom.”
Bristol did not discuss her on-going custody battle with Johnston.
Sarah made her debut as a commentator for the FOX News Channel on last night’s O’Reilly Factor. She tells In Touch that raising her special needs son Trig, who has Down syndrome, has made her a more patient mother.
“He’s made me more patient and compassionate, and more focused on priorities that really matter.”
The Palin on In Touch hits newsstands this Friday.

Bristol Palin is demanding full custody of her son with former beau Levi Johnston.
The teen daughter of former GOP VP candidate Sarah Palin has launched a bid against the buffed-up beefcake in open court for sole control of their infant son.

An Alaskan judge revoked the pair’s anonymity in court proceedings over the fate of their 1-year-old son Tripp last week, revealing details of the case for the first time, The Associated Press reported Tuesday.
“The best interests of the child compel the conclusion that Bristol should be awarded 100% legal and physical custody of Tripp, with visitation rights in favor of Levi,” Bristol’s attorney Thomas V. Van Flein said in the papers.
