After releasing another album, Shakira is ready to give acting a shot.
According to the show’s creator, Silvio Horta, the singer is set to appear on Ugly Betty — as herself.
“We’re huge fans of Shakira,” Horta tells PEOPLE. “We had a very memorable moment in the third episode where Betty has a makeover that goes wrong and she struts down the street to ‘Hips Don’t Lie.’ We’ve mentioned her several times over the course of the series and have always wanted to work with her. She’s an enormous Latina icon, as is Betty, and we thought it was a perfect fit.”
As for her plotline: Shakira will be the key to helping a Mode photo shoot get back on track when the magazine is on location in the Bahamas in an episode titled “The Bahamas Triangle.”

When we asked the obligatory “WTF?! Why?” The answer is because Lisa knows she’s not getting into any of these “society and political” events without a man who could bring her along. She’s also starved for media attention–surprise surprise–so Al is her “In” into that world. And Al–well he’s just happy to say he can have a chick that looks like LisaRaye on his arm and whose perm looks better than his. If the unfashionably early demise of The CW series "The Beautiful Life: TBL" left you with a closet full of questions—Who's the father of Sonja's (Mischa Barton) baby? Is Raina's (Sara Paxton) brother sleeping with the fishes?—you're not alone. Just a few days ago we pondered these same (seemingly unanswerable) questions. But we needed a little closure, so Hollywood Crush caught up with a member of the model drama's production staff who spilled major details about the series including what we would have seen in upcoming episodes (hint: sex, lies and murder!).
As was earlier reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the cast and crew were in the middle of filming the seventh episode when news broke last Friday that the show would be canceled. (Ironically they were ahead of production compared to other CW shows, even though they started two weeks late). Even more surprisingly, they didn't hear the news first from CW brass. Nope, they heard it like the rest of us—through the media! According to our insider, the news was leaked to THR 10 minutes before executives informed producers the series was dunzo. Our source also added that a script for the eighth episode was finished and scripts for the ninth and tenth episodes were in various stages of completion.
Just like any soap, the first few episodes of "TBL" were setting the stage for all the juicy drama to ensue. In fact, starting with episode 3 the series was to take quite a sexy turn. "If they just aired the first four episodes, I think people would have been hooked," our source said. But instead the series was strangled before it got a chance to breathe. Taking pity on us poor, abandoned viewers, our source answered five of our burning questions left in the series' wake. WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS. If you're holding out for an online run or DVD (though our insider said a DVD is highly unlikely with so few episodes in the can), you might want to click away NOW.
1. Who is the father of Sonja's baby? Claudia's (Elle Macpherson) husband! Richard (played by Ed Quinn whom you may recognize as vampire Stan from "True Blood" or as Nathan Stark on "Eureka") is the head of a large cosmetics company, and in the wake of Sonja's scandal he decides to design a new makeup line called "Reinvention," using Sonja as the face of the product. Though it appears he's doing all of this to appease wife Claudia, he's really doing it to get back together with Sonja. During a visit to Richard's office, Claudia finds one of Sonja's earrings, clueing her in to what's going on. Sonja eventually leaves Claudia's agency out of guilt because of the rekindled affair, though wouldn't you know, several episodes later her new agency is bought by none other than Claudia, meaning the enemies are reunited.
2. Why was Raina's (Sara Paxton) father in prison? He's the head of the Russian mob in New York and was arrested for racketeering!
3. Is Raina's brother Alex (Billy Magnussen) sleeping with the fishes? Alex apparently swiped a lot of money from the mob to buy a club. Raina makes a deal with their father that she'll be a good daughter if Alex isn't offed. Daddy Dearest accepts the offer but that doesn't save Alex from wearing cement shoes! Alex is later done in by Raina's ex-boyfriend Dimitri (more on him to come)!
4. Did Chris have to sleep on the floor or did he get to have a model slumber party in Raina's bed? Turns out the two don't do the deed until episode 7 because Raina is skittish about sex after being heartbroken by Dimitri. And in a cruel twist of fate, the comely couple decide to have sex right as Alex is being murdered! If only they'd stayed at the party a little longer, they may have been able to save him.
5. What was the history between Sonja and Cole (Nico Tortorella)? It seemed like something was there, right? We already know the two go back at least three years to when that photo of Sonja was taken doing cocaine. But Sonja and Cole are another pair who end up hitting the sheets in episode
Man, that episode 7 must be something! Seriously, seriously juicy stuff, right? Our source also said we'll miss Nico walking in a real Lacoste show, a photo shoot in the real Calvin Klein offices and Sonja's halloween costume designed by up-and-comer Erin Fetherston.
The series was truly being embraced by the fashion industry, but it may have been neglect on the part of the network that led to the series' ugly end. Our source said The CW put most of its ad dollars behind the trusted "Melrose Place" brand instead of the fledgling "TBL." "We had zero advertising, whatsoever," our insider said. Or at least, it didn't compare to the deluge of press the reboot received. What a waste of the pretty.

The Avett Brothers have released all 13 chapters of their I and Love and You video series to promote their new album (an album that’s not merely loaded with ballads, it’s almost wall-to-wall epic ballads. Pianos trickle before the storm, strings ball up their fists, swells and waves of sound wash over the Avetts’ sorghum-sweet harmonies. And this is just in the first song, a goose-bump engorging title-track that could by itself inspire a legion of new fans) which came out yesterday. Each chapter centers around a song from the album and combines live footage, fan interviews, and a few words from the band.
The words “I” and “Love” and “You” are the watermark of humanity. Strung together, they convey our deepest sense of humility, of power, of truth. It is our most common sentiment, even as the feeling of it is so infinitely uncommon; each to proclaim these three words with his or her very own heart and mindset of reason (or lack thereof); a proclamation completely and perfectly new each time it is offered. Uttered daily and nightly by millions, the words are said in an unending array of circumstances: whispered to the newborn in a new mother’s arms; shared between best friends on the playground; in the form of sympathy – said by a girl to a boy as the respect continues but the relationship does not. It is said too loudly by parents to embarrassed children in the company of their friends, and grown children – to their fading parents in hospital beds. The words are thought in the company of the photograph and said in the company of the gravestone. It is how we end our phone calls and our letters…the words at the bottom of the page that trump all those above it, a way to gracefully finish a message, however important or trivial, with the most meaningful replacement for lesser salutations among near strangers, burst forth casually as “love ya.” Truly? To what degree? Why, how much, and for how long? These are questions befitting the stature of love, though not the everyday banter of vague acquaintance. The words have also been twisted by the dark nature of deceit; to say “I love you” with a dramatic measure of synthetic emotion; a snare set by those who prey upon fellow humanity, driven to whatever selfish end, to gain access to another’s body, or their money, or their opportunity. In this realm, the proclamation is disgraced by one seeking to gain rather than to give. In any case, and by whatever inspiration, these words are woven deeply into the fibers of our existence. Our longing to hear them from the right place is maddeningly and simultaneously our finest strength and our most gentle weakness. The album “I and Love and You” is unashamedly defined by such a dynamic of duality. As living people, we are bound by this unavoidable parallel. We are powerful yet weak, capable yet temporary. Inevitably, an attempt to place honesty within an artistic avenue will follow suit. This is a piece which shows us as we are: products of love surrounded by struggle. The music herein is, in many ways, readable as both a milestone and an arrival. A chapter in the story of young men, it bridges the space between the uncertainty of youth and the reality of its release. The record is full with the quality of question and response. As far as questions go, there are plenty – normally residing within the tone and delivery of the lyrics themselves, which, ironically, are sung with so much confidence. Among songs and thoughts so driven and purposeful, the most basic and relatable doubt comes through with a resounding clarity. Outside of the eternal theme of romantic love, the album speaks thankfully upon a landscape of light-filled rooms, word-filled pages, time machines, forgiveness, singing birds, ocean waves, art, change, confessions of shortcomings, and reasons to continue on. Hope and a cause for smiling follow naturally. In the midst of all this, there are allusions to the less-than-ideal conditions of life: the loss of memory, the inability to control temper, insecurity, indecision, jaded indifference, and the general plague of former and current weakness. “I and Love and You” is an album of obvious human creation, characterized by its best and its worst. Emotional imperfection is a reality for those who recorded the piece, just as it is for those who will hear it. The conclusion of the song from which the title is taken admits that the words “I love you” have become “hard to say.” And perhaps that difficulty is as common as its counterpart. Perhaps the inability to say these heaviest of words is as much a part of life as the lighthearted candor of those who say them without any difficulty at all. And so it ends with the phrase whispered to and by those of us most defeated and most elated ... I and love and you …
