The recent box office hit was formally forbidden to be shown in the country a week prior to its opening, says E!.

The former Soviet nation's Culture Ministry labelled the comedy "immoral", and cited its foul language and depiction of sexual imagery as "obscene and improper". The bureau also claimed that viewing of the film could have the potential to "cause damage to public morals".
"[Brüno is an] artistically unjustified exhibition of sexual organs and sexual relations, homosexual acts in a blatantly graphic form, obscene language, sadism and antisocial behavior which could damage the moral upbringing of our citizens," the group added.
It was reported earlier this week that the British Board of Film Classification gave the picture an 18 certificate. However, it was later re-released with a 15 certificate after certain scenes were cut.
